I attended the Cherry Mobile launch event a couple of years ago when it was a just a fledgling newcomer. Moving forward, Cherry Mobile has come a long way, having inched its way into the mobile phone market. At the recent launch of its latest products, Cherry Mobile is set to once again shake the market with its newest line-up of powerful Android smartphones and tablets.
Dual SIM Smartphones
Following its release of Orbit, the first 3G Dual SIM Android in the country, Cherry Mobile further strengthens its true dual SIM capabilities in its smartphone collection. In bringing Wi-Fi and Android 2.2 Froyo technology together, hip and colorful power phones were created -- the new full-touch Candy and its touch & QWERTY type version, Candy Chat. Both units, which support micro SD card up to 16GB, are a steal at Php3,699. The purple unit caught my eye so I'm putting it in my Christmas wish list.
As if Candy and Candy Chat are not shining stars enough, Cherry Mobile introduces the Stellar unit. Stellar, in black, is the serious-looking phone which allows users to get a refined user interface and access to thousands of available applications through its Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform. Powered by Qualcomm 7227T 800 MHz processor and sports a 3.5” HVGA Capacitive Touch Panel, its other features include a 5.0 MP camera, Wi-Fi and GPS capabilities. Functioning also as a portable hotspot, Stellar shines at a price of Php7,899.
Cherry Mobile levels up to dual core with Magnum 2X, the phone that look like it really means business. Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 Cortex A9 Dual Core processor, each running at 1 GHz. With Android 2.2 Froyo upgradeable to Gingerbread, users get to have a solid smartphone experience -- seamless multitasking between applications, accelerated web browsing and refined gameplay interface. It also sports a dual camera with 5.0 MP Main, portable hotspot, Wi-Fi and GPS features. Magnum 2X flaunts a 3.8” WVGA Capacitive Touch Panel and retails for Php15,899.
Tablets for All
In keeping with the times and the demands of the market, Cherry Mobile now makes tablets available for all as it launched two devices for the techie Pinoy -- Cherry Pad and Cherry Pad Turbo. Cherry Pad runs on an 800 MHz processor and Android 2.2 Froyo platform, and retails for an affordable price of only Php3,899.
On the other hand, Cherry Pad Turbo, the higher version of Cherry Pad, is equipped with a 1.2 GHz processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Watch high quality multimedia with its HDMI port or take a snapshot with its 2 MP camera. Go Turbo for only PHP 6,899. Check! Another one for my wish list but I'll decide when I get to try and review it one of these days.
Both tablets have 7” Full Touch Screen, Wi-Fi Connectivity, 4GB internal storage and expandable micro SD card up to 32 GB.
Premium Tablet
Taking multimedia, gaming, browsing and multitasking experience to a whole new level, Cherry Mobile created its first dual core tablet, the Supreme. This powerful and premium tablet boasts of a slew of features -- comes with Android 2.2 Froyo, upgradeable to a higher version. Supreme is built with Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core processor, running at a speed of 1 GHz. With a 10.1” capacitive screen display and HDMI output, it’s really a supreme offer at Php16, 899.
With these latest additions, Cherry Mobile lives up to its promise of delivering products that equate to high end brands at extremely competitive prices. The smart phones will be released by end of November while the tablets will be available by early December.
Aside from a smashing smartphone and tablet collection, Cherry Mobile also combines style, functionality and affordability in its Christmas phone line-up, dubbed as the “Cherrys of Christmas.” A wide variety of new Dual SIM models, TV phones, Touchscreen, and Wi-Fi ready handsets are up for grabs this season at special discounted prices and other freebies.
