Agri-Tourism at its Best

Being in my line of work at a business newspaper has exposed me to all kinds of events, expo's and trade shows -- from food, fashion, health & wellness; to business matchings, franchising, and bazaars; even toys and collectibles. So is there anything new happening soon? Something relevant and helpful to the economy?

This June 30 to July 2, the World Trade Center in Pasay City will house the 1st International Agriculture and Tourism Expo. The first of its kind in the Philippines, the 3-day expo will bring together world-class experts who will share their time and expertise to the delegates by conducting awareness campaigns and seminars on the latest agricultural and tourism innovations and trends from around the globe.

Day 1 will start off with the grand opening ceremonies to be led by representatives from A-Linx and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), with Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, the current Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, gracing the event as guest of honor and keynote speaker. Presentations from Bureau of Agriculture Research (BAR) and Philippine Agricultural Development & Commercial Corporation (PADCC) will be given, followed by a seminar on Best Practices on Conservation. A talk on Community Social Responsibility and Sustainable Tourism - The Philippine Initiative will be conducted by Susan Santos de Cardenas,

Day 2 will feature a presentation from Universal Robina Corporation (URC) and a seminar on Climate Change Awareness by the Sagip Buhay Foundation. Keynote speaker for the morning will be Senator Loren Legarda, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs; keynote speaker in the afternoon will be Senator Manuel "Lito" Lapid.

Day 3 (last day) will kick off with a presentation from Foremost Farms, Inc. and an LGU Forum. His excellency, Jejomar Binay, vice president of the Philippines, will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker in the morning. The afternoon will give delegates a Tax Forum, with Senator Juan Miguel "Migs" Zubiri as key note speaker.
